Editorial Policy
Last reviewed: August 24, 2026
This Editorial Policy explains how Canada Tax Hub selects, researches, reviews, updates and corrects content. Our aim is to publish useful, source-based information that helps readers understand the cost of living and everyday financial topics in Canada.
Editorial scope
We cover Canadian housing, taxes, income, food, transportation, banking, moving and budgeting. Articles should answer a clear reader question and distinguish official facts from estimates, examples and editorial interpretation.
Source hierarchy
We prioritize primary and authoritative sources, including Statistics Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, federal and provincial departments, municipal governments and official transit agencies. Academic or reputable industry sources may provide additional context. When an official source is available for a tax rate, wage, rule or government program, it should take priority over a commercial summary.
Data years and estimates
Important numbers should identify their reference year or release period. Rental-market averages, inflation measures and wage figures can describe different time periods and should not be presented as if they were collected on the same date. Calculations and example budgets must show their assumptions and should not be described as guaranteed personal outcomes.
Fact-checking and review
- Material numerical claims are checked against the linked source.
- Tax and benefit information is compared with the applicable government page.
- Headlines and descriptions must accurately reflect the article.
- Articles should avoid unsupported claims, invented prices and false precision.
- Substantive updates include a new review date where appropriate.
Use of digital tools
Digital and automated tools may assist with topic research, drafting, organization, grammar or quality checks. They do not replace source verification. Numerical claims and material factual statements are reviewed against cited authoritative sources before publication, and the publisher remains responsible for the final content.
Corrections
We correct material errors when they are identified. Readers can report an issue through Contact Us and should include the page URL, the disputed statement and a supporting source. Minor spelling or formatting changes may be made without a correction note; significant factual changes may be explained within the article.
Editorial independence and advertising
Advertising helps support the website but does not determine our conclusions. Advertisers do not receive editorial approval. Sponsored or affiliate content, if introduced, will be clearly labelled. Canada Tax Hub is not affiliated with the Government of Canada or any agency cited on the site.
Bylines and accountability
Pages and articles are published under the name of the responsible site editor. Learn about Alex Wang, Editor, our mission and sources, and the limits of our information in the Disclaimer.
